2008 Studio Theme Gardens |
Patriotic Garden: Many of our country's founding fathers were avid gardeners. We honor them and all others who serve our county with a Patriotic Garden. Red, white, and blue flowers complement plants with patriotic names. God Bless America.
Morning, Noon, and Evening Too: From morning glories to evening primrose, this garden is beautiful all day long. Special attention to lighting demonstrates how to make your garden a place to relax and enjoy even after sunset.
Patio Garden: If low maintenance is a necessity in your garden, maybe xeriscape is for you. The patio garden utilizes natives and other tough plants that need very little water. This garden makes the most of limited space to create a beautiful garden that is environmentally friendly.
Cut Flower Garden: Bring the garden indoors with a continuous supply of cuttings. This garden will feature bloomers with a long vase-life and incorporate a variety of plants that will bloom in succession all season long.
In addition to our yearly seasonal theme gardens, the studio gardens contain a vast collection of other plant material and displays. Popular are the perennial collections, rock garden, water garden, Japanese gardens, butterfly garden, and recently added patio garden. Visitors will enjoy a redesigned and greatly enhanced Herb Garden.
Vegetable Garden: We are moving our vegetable garden to a new site adjacent to our orchard and herb garden. The new vegetable garden will be fully fenced to keep out unwanted wildlife. We will focus on continual production, working the garden intensively and utilizing all available space. The design will include space-saving ideas for small gardens, such as square-foot gardens, trellised vegetables, an espaliered fruit tree, and container fruits and vegetables. We will also incorporate flowers and herbs into the vegetable garden for beauty, and more importantly, to promote natural pest control.
Design Demonstration Gardens: To accommodate a series of garden design segments, we will develop several beds to demonstrate distinct styles of garden designs. Designs will include formal, contemporary, and romantic gardens. Design beds will also be utilized to demonstrate elements of design such as plant form and color schemes.
