Oklahoma Fruit Research Station - Perkins, OK
Programs: variety trials and cultural practices on fruit trees, mostly apples, peaches, and pecans. Also plum, cherry, apricot, and pear studies.
Location: nine miles south of Stillwater on Highway 177, continue 1 mile east on Highway 33, turn north for 1/2 mile at the east intersection of Highways 177 and 33. (Highway 177 make a one mile jog east then continues south into Perkins.)
Size: 80 acres.
The Fruit Research Station is located on the Perkins area research site, with some 30 acres in actual plantings. Researchers from the Horticulture, Plant Pathology, Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering, and Entomology departments cooperate on studies at this station.
Oklahoma Nursery and Turfgrass Research Station - Stillwater, OK
Oklahoma Vegetable Research Station - Bixby, OK
Programs: potato, sweet potato, peppers, tomatoes, asparagus, and other vegetable variety and breeding studies. Also, small fruits, herbicide trials, and cultural techniques are understudy. Agronomy has soybean breeding, variety trials, and doublecropping management studies.
Location: one-half mile south of 131st St. on Mingo.
Size: 110 acres.
Located on the north side of the Arkansas River from Bixby, this is the site of extensive vegetable research and educational programs. Forty acres of the station are employed in agronomic research studies.
