Jo Allyn
Lowe Park
Jo Allyn Lowe Park is a 31 acre park on Price Road just west of Highway 75. The park has a small pond with ducks, geese, and a fishing pier being the main attractions. The park also has 2 small picnic shelters, restrooms, and a drinking fountain. All of these are handicapped accessible. The Pottieger Log Cabin has been restored and placed here. Also included are 3000' of paved walkway and 5300' of grass walkway. Jo Allyn Lowe serves as one of the entrances to Pathfinder parkway, a 12 mile system of walking trails which connect several of the city parks.

Jo Allyn Lowe also boasts an arboretum which currently has 341 trees representing 140 species/cultivars. Of these, 38 trees have been dedicated by various groups and individuals. Dedication of a tree involves the donation of the tree plus $300 for perpetual maintenance. All trees in the park have been labeled with the common name, the scientific name, typical mature height and spread of the tree, and the date planted. Dedicated trees have an additional plaque which recognizes the dedication. All tree locations are shown on a large map at the entrance of the park near the parking lot. All trees have underground drip irrigation for the dry summer months. Also in the arboretum is some four acres left to native grasses.

Plans for 1997 include paving the grass paths through the park and extending the Pathfinder Parkway south to the Colonial Estates addition.
